I read this years ago, from what I could remember it was the only Goosebumps book to end in a cliffhanger / not a happy ending like that most. ( ) Max, his younger brother Lefty, and a group of friends discover a hidden room in the attic that contains an old-fashioned full length mirror. Why would this be hidden away? The kids find that when you pull the light chain, the person standing in front of the mirror becomes invisible. The kids become obsessed with it, but fun comes at a price. This is a good one, as the descriptions of what Max feels as he's invisible are worrisome, like a bad drug trip. Stine includes his tropes in spades here. The kids with the more dominant personalities push Max into doing what he knows is wrong, you have the character who wails, "Noooo!" (I wait for it in every book), and the kids are lacking even a spark of evil as they use invisibility to throw magazines around rather than burn the neighborhood down. Look over here! It's "Peer Pressure Is Terrible: The Book." When Max and his obnoxious brother Lefty discover a light/mirror combination that can render someone invisible, it seems like a fun thing to play around with. It's cool being invisible, after all. You can prank friends and siblings, and generally have fun "goofing." Glee is soon replaced with unease when Max discovers that the longer you stay invisible, the stranger you feel. The mirror seems to pull you in, and you begin to lose your sense of self... BETTER GIVE IN TO YOUR FRIENDS PLEAS TO GO INVISIBLE AND START A CONTEST TO SEE HOW LONG YOU CAN STAY INVISIBLE THEN, RIGHT? Oh, Goosebumps logic. *spoilers* I really liked this book. I thought I wouldn't, at first, and it was a little slow in the beginning. I started getting bored with it during the first few chapters, but it got better around chapter seven. At first it seems like the mirror that turns you invisible would be a lot of fun to play around with, but Max really should have listened to his instincts instead of letting his friends pressure him into using the mirror over and over. He knew something was off about it, but he just caved to his friends, over and over. I liked the revelation that there were mirror-people in the mirror, and they wanted to trade places with Max and Eric and Zach. I thought Max would realize that Lefty had switched places, too, but he didn't realize that until the very end of the book, and I guess the end shows that Lefty is stuck in the mirror now and his reflection has taken his place for good. I haven't read Goosebumps in years, so this was kind of a trip down memory lane. keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen
