Delilah Dickinson, Atlanta travel agent, begins her first literary tour focusing on Gone With The Wind theme. Things begin to fall apart at the first stop, the GWTW movie museum. But, things only get worse when the end of the tour goes awry with a murder at the plantation they visit for a period piece dinner and ball. This is a entertaining novel especially for the author's first. I was drawn to the Gone With The Wind theme at first. The author puts some historical information about the book, the author, the South, the movie, etc in there as well, but she doesn't over do it. The setting in VERY deep south with phrases such as "Dag Gummit" and "What in the Sam Hill?" and "Miss Delilah" all over it. If you can stand it y'all be fine. But the story is quick, not complicated and a good light read. I will be looking forward to the next in the series. By the way, can't tell if this is a cozy or not. I don't usually like cozies... In this first book of the Delilah Dickinson Literary Tours series, Delilah Dickinson has just started a literary tour business. When she takes her customers to a plantation modeled after Tara, a murder takes place. Can Delilah help find the murderer before her business is ruined? I thought that this was a good read. Nothing too unusual, but entertaining. Delilah is a stubborn woman who isn't afraid to get involved in dangerous situations (think Stephanie Plum with much less sexual tension). A reasonable range of suspects was introduced, and although the action was a bit slow at the beginning of the investigation, the final few chapters kept me reading. Plus, since there are only two books in this series, I'm already halfway through! Recently divorced Deliah Dickinson has taken a leap of faith by leaving her job with a travel agency and starting her own tour company. What better way for an Atlanta girl to start a new business than with a Gone With the Wind Tour. But when an overnight stay at a Tara look-a-like plantation results in the murder of the actor who plays Rhett Butler, Deliah unearths her inner Miss Marple. Along with her son-in-law and feisty nieces, she is determined to solve the mystery. I found this to be a funny and charming book. It really is a lot like a Christie mystery with all the suspects in a house with a detective trying to solve the case and a persistent and incredibly observant lady who seems to keep tripping over evidence .There is also a cast of characters who are linked in ways you will never suspect. There were a couple of loose ends that I would have liked to see explained but overall I think this is a delightful homage to a classic style of mystery. Delilah Dickinson is beginning her literary tour business with a Margaret Mitchell tour in the Atlanta area. Things hit a rocky start when a couple of tour members get into a fight at the museum on the first day. When they go for the plantation tour on the second day, the actor portraying Rhett Butler turns up dead. All the tour members as well as the staff are suspects. Delilah, of course, ends up "assisting" Lt. Farraday in his investigation. One of this books weaknesses is character development. There is far too much conversation in the opening chapters, making it difficult to know about the characters themselves to be able to identify who they are later. I found myself constantly having to turn back in the opening chapters to try to figure out who someone was. The flow was better in later chapters. The mystery itself had enough twists and turns to keep it interesting. Zeige 5 von 5 keine Rezensionen | Rezension hinzufügen

Story begins with a divorcee who starts up her own literary travel business in Atlanta, GA. The first tour is a "Gone with the Wind" travel experience at an antebellum mansion and a bunch of crazy actors. Well wouldn't you know it, Rhett (or at least the actor playing Rhett) turns up dead in the garden and lots of folks seem to have a motive to do him in. ( )
