He eafily conceived, notwithftanding the difguife of my friend, by his gait and fhape, that he was of a fuperior rank. He hefitated, therefore, fome moments to pronounce his opinions) eroding his arms, and gaping at the Count. The latter being ftruck by the oddity of that fcene, could not help fmiling, which infpircd the drunken inquifitor with additional courage.
