Silently she waits'empty, alone, and abandoned. Behind the moon the old ship rests, waiting for the day when she can fight for her namesake. Waiting for the day when a reluctant Daniel Foster discovers her'her secrets'and her noble purpose. Daniel has no intention of being a hero. The young earthling only wants to spend time with his friends and take his newly inherited car to the lake for the weekend. But fate has another path in store for him. This car will take Daniel not to his intended destination, but instead to his destiny aboard his grandfather's long forsaken starship. For freedom has been leached from the galaxy, replaced with slavery, oppression, and destruction. All the known worlds have been overrun by a terrible menace known as the Gaarich. Only one planet has been spared, not out of mercy, but as its riches are not yet needed, and the populace is not a threat to their empire.
