This was an enjoyable overview of the various European Christmas customs. The pictures and information are pulled from the Rick Steves' European Christmas special that aired on PBS. I really enjoyed learning about how the different countries of western Europe celebrate the holidays - the varieties of food, songs, "Santa Clauses," etc. There are several recipes included, but I didn't try them. Countries covered include England, France, Germany, Norway, Austria, Italy, and Switzerland. ( )

This is a beautiful book that did a great job of illustrating the way Christmas is celebrated in other countries. It is a companion to a PBS special and there is also a music cd. It helped me have a broader and less materialistic view of the holiday season. ( )
