I like K. G. MacGregor's writing style. I always have, even when the book as a whole didn't live up to my hopeful expectations. I enjoyed the way she took on the butch/femme theme in Sea Legs. ( )

This book was both a familiar storyline and it was interesting and new. The basic story is that a group of friends, Natalie, Kelly, Steph, Yvonne, Didi, and Pamela, go on a cruise. (Two couples and two women who don't know each other but bunk together on the cruise). Then, general lesbian chaos ensues. What makes it really interesting is that everyone has their own issues to work through, and it's not like there is anywhere to run away to, they're on a boat (though it is a big boat).

It's also fun to see how MacGregor re-arranges all the main characters, having them interact with each other over the twelve days of the cruise in an intricate dance.

I also liked the addition of the two Australian characters that the main characters meet after they're on the boat. Jo and Julie round out the story and give it depth. Their inclusion makes the story seem less insulated and lets there also be a viewpoint into the six main characters that is how an outsider sees them all while looking in.

I did have one teeny tiny complaint. Too short. It wasn't that MacGregor left any story out of the novel, I just wished that there had been a way to get more into the story without ruining it. ( )

Erste Worte
One look and Kelly Ridenour was in love.
At over thousand feet long and thirteen stories high, the Emerald Duchess was the largest ship in the Emerald Cruise Line's fleet. It gleamed against the sparkling Biscayne Bay, a waft of silver smoke streaming from its towering stacks and dissipating into the bright Miami sky.
