An] extremely original novel. . . . The parallel action takes place in a convent and in a palace, where the eccentricities and freedom from conventions give rise to scenes of great literary power.--Angelina Muniz-Huberman, Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz Prize judge Winner of the Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz Prize, Your King No Longer Treads the Earth explores the contrast between convent life and a neighboring palace. Narrated through a collective voice of twenty-some nuns, this novel examines the last months in the life of the eccentric Abbess Violante, who vacillates between resentment over what she gave up for convent life and a sincere desire to be a model for her less than innocent charges. Cristina Sanchez-Andrade has degrees in law and mass media. She collaborates in various Spanish newspapers and literary magazines as a critic and book reviewer. Your King No Longer Treads the Earth is her third novel and the winner of the prestigious Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz Prize.
