This was interesting. I don't know that I'm fully invested in the characters or the plot but it held some intrigue. The romance was instalove - soulmates and all - but it did feel like Janet didn't really question anything making it feel false. Max was alright, but he didn't seem genuine in his feelings for Janet - it kind of was just like hey I'm in love with you, end of story. This could be partially due to the length though so I guess it is what it is. Their chemistry was just average - they felt more like friends than madly in love couple.

The plot was okay, werewolf hunts others that prey on humans - crosses paths with a nurse who becomes the next victim of the evil werewolf. The plot wasn't anything unusual just your plain paranormal evil villainesque plot. My biggest issue was the paranormal world building. Depending on who the human is turned by - they become good or evil. Without any further background that just seemed ridiculous. If they were different species or became beserker types or something maybe but as it stood, it just seemed dumb.

I though the pacing felt a bit off as well. And obviously being a novella there wasn't a whole lot of depth. 2 stars. I likely won't read the next one as Richard didn't really grab me. ( )

Hmm... This was... nice, I guess. It didn't capture me as The MacCoinnich series did, and it felt somewhat rush. I also felt like there wasn't much going on, and things were kind of anti climactic... The bad guy was much too easy to defeat, his threats that he'd hurt Janet actually came to nothing and it just seemed... I don't know. Not as much as I know Bybee is capable of. I loved the ending, though;
"“I love you, Janet O’Brien. Marry me.”
“This is crazy!”
“Marry me.”
“I’m in love with a dog.”
He smiled, not missing her words. “I’m a wolf.”
“I’m going to be Mrs. Wolf.”
His lips tugged, his dimples flashed. “You’re going to be Mrs. Ritter.”
"
I think this should've ended here, without the last three sentences after this. It would've been a perfect ending that way, in my opinion. ( )
