Many think evangelism is rooted in a method. It is rooted in something much deeper. It is found in what makes us whole and healthy messengers of God's truth about Jesus.Mack Stiles has lived the life of the healthy evangelist in homes and coffee shops, at universities and farms. He has lived out and spoken about the gospel to Kenyans, Koreans, Arabs and North Americans. What he has learned around the world and at home is summarized here in a few basic truths that can shape any of us into faithful people who bring good news to needy and hurting friends. The whole gospel changes much more than our relationship with God. Stiles shows how it changes all of who we are and what we do. It means learning the whole gospel without shaping its message to meet our tastes. It means not just going through the motions of accepted behaviors. It means showing the unity of witness and justice. It means love. It means community.Join Mack Stiles in a life-giving adventure of boldly knowing, living and speaking the gospel.… (mehr)

“This is now my favorite book on evangelism. It is absolutely free of the kind of hype I sometimes sense when people talk about evangelism. I wish I could insist that everyone read this book. I particularly was thrilled to read his thoughts on the importance of the church to personal evangelism.” ( )

NCLA Review - Mack Stiles is a dedicated American evangelist who moved his family to the United Arab Emirates to spread the Gospel. His concern in this book is that many people offer a weakened or confused version of the Gospel, which leads to people assuming they are Christians without realizing what being a disciple of Christ actually entails. The book felt “preachy” to me, though he backs his points anecdotally as well as Scripturally. Stiles’ bold conversations with non-Christians frequently expose a muddled understanding of the Gospel. Theologically liberal readers might disagree with his focus on hell and his narrow interpretation of “the Gospel,” but he rightly calls for a more honest proclamation. And I wish his “16 Ways to Demonstrate Love and Unity in the Church” could be printed as a pamphlet and distributed in churches. Rating: 2.5 —DKW ( )

This is one of the best books I've ever read about evangelism. It's focus is not on a method of evangelism or reasons why we should evangelize. Instead, it gives a theology of evangelism and focuses on how the way we live our lives will affect how we evangelize. In effect, when we live the Gospel we will be effective evangelistically. This book is easy to read with great illustrations, authentic, and loaded with practical examples of how to put the principles in effect. I plan to teach a class with many of the insights found in this book. ( )
