3.5 stars. Mainly due to the over-the-top cliffhanger ending. I'm getting really tired of that in UF.
I'm starting to get tired of this story not advancing. Celia isn't really going anywhere. Not in her relationship, not mentally, not magically--nothing. She's not growing as a person.
Hopefully the next book takes us somewhere.

This book was me trying to push back the problems I was having to see if the payout I was hoping to see that would save the series would happen. It didn't. This was the last in the series for me.
This book was part of series which I did not realize when I picked it up. In my defense there is nothing on the book that would inform the reader of that fact--the book is pretty much stand-alone. So maybe, just maybe I'd have liked the book more if I'd read the previous ones, but my guess is that I would have never made it past the first volume. Here's the problem, the author insists on inserting every possible type of supernatural being in the narrative usually at a moment where it would most help the plot. It feels a lot like cheating. Overall the writing is mundane, but it was strong enough for me to finish the book so it ends up 2 not 1 star.… (mehr)
