Very relevant when I bought the book but maybe the techniques are now a bit dated. It was printed in 1992....pretty much before the internet got started and is now 28 years old. So, pre- internet (more or less), pre facebook, pre-LinkedIn, pre Twitter, pre Google. So what does she really have to offer.
Her basic thesis comes down to an acronym...SURVIVE..which she spells out as:
Synthesise details
Underscore priorities
Reduce Paperwork
View the big picture
Illuminate meeting issues (use meeting technology)
Visualise new concepts (Chunking, visual analogies, structures thinking)
Extract the essence

And, maybe, even with the internet etc ..these tricks are just as relevant. I certainly found myself thinking..."this makes sense" as I was re-reading it.
However, my manager days are now behind me and I'm mainly managing my dog these days so not sure that it's all applicable now. (Though I must have a look at my email inbox again with her tips in mind. I give it 4 stars.… (mehr)
