I don't know what other people read, but I read an extremely confusing, short romantic comedy. I expected a lot more from it, I actually liked it at first, and then things just sort of went downhill. I never felt like I got to know the characters, though I think I would have liked them both if I had. I also never understood their immediate draw to one another, but maybe that's due to the jumping around timeline. What could have been a great story, starting in October sometime and ending after New Years, started in October, jumped a month ahead, somehow skipped weeks entirely, and just ended. I would much prefer to see this in the form of a Hallmark movie.… (mehr)

Olivia has big dreams but a dwindling bank account. She needs a job, Garrett needs an assistant. What could possibly go wrong? The New Year's Wish is a story about trying something new, taking a chance on love and finding out the capabilities you have within. These two people were different in that Garrett knew the importance of responsibilities, Olivia needed to learn how to be responsible. Olivia's heart was her compass and Garrett was less of a dreamer and more of a realist. I enjoy reading stories where the character's learn and become better because of new influences within their lives. I received an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review. The New Year's Wish by Dani-Lyn Alexander is a cute story that is encouraging and brief. Less is more in this case.… (mehr)

Dani-Lyn Alexander’s BATTLE FOR CYMMERA is a wonderful conclusion to the Kingdom of Cymmera series. Ryleigh Donnovan and Jackson Maynard are concentrating on rebuilding Cymmera when they get news of Chayce Maynard’s whereabouts. Chayce having been found guilty of treason needs to be caught and executed. Meanwhile, while Jackson is pursuing his brother, Cymmera is under attack. This contemporary fantasy is suitable for young adults.

Dani-Lyn Alexander did a great job with her character development; especially Ryleigh, Jackson, Mia, and Noah who have grown tremendously since the first book. Ryleigh is a good Queen. She handles pressure well and cares about her people. I respect that she insists on fighting beside her people. Jackson has made an impressive King. He was betrayed by his brother and knows that there are other traitors among them. He needs to be rational when making decisions. He loves Ryleigh and struggles with his emotions when he thinks he lost her. Mia has been given a lot of responsibility in this story. Ryleigh has a difficult time not treating her like a child anymore. I enjoyed how Noah’s relationship with both Ryleigh and Jackson has transformed. Jackson knows Noah still loves Ryleigh. However, he trusts Noah and with both of their lives.

I like Max. Yes, wolves are my favorite animal, so I’m a little bias, but he is a wonderful companion to Ryleigh.

The plot was well laid out. Elijah and Mia have knowledge of a possible future that they cannot share with anyone. Elijah attempts to change the future he foresaw. We discovered some things about Payton. Cymmera makes some interesting alliances. Chayce and Thaddeus are lethal adversaries. BATTLE FOR CYMMERA was full of non stop action and had interesting twists. It had a good resolution and felt complete. The Kingdom of Cymmera would make an excellent movie or television series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.… (mehr)
