Peter Andriesse

Not essential reading, but Desperado's by Peter Andriesse is a very interesting short novel set in the 60s and 70s student milieu in Amsterdam of the previous century. The book gives a peek into student life of that time, and alongside reflects on the art scene and writers who are now seen as defining for that period, such as Wolkers, Reve and Hermans. There is also ample mention of legendary watering holes in Amsterdam, many of which still exist today. Therefore, for Dutch people with an interest is modern literature, I would certainly recommend reading it.… (mehr)
