An excellent, easy to read telling of WWII events through the eyes of the people who fought it. Stories by men, women, black, and white; the author covers a vast range of experiences. These short, easily digested vignettes are not told by the generals, but from the viewpoints of "everyday" soldiers. From stateside duty to the frontline, from nurses to prisoners of war, all of the stories are well told and very interesting. This book is so easy to read that I believe it would be one that could easily be used in school history classes. I think that even students would find the stories engaging. Great job!… (mehr)
