This is a creative way to teach younger children about numbers. The illustrations are a bit old-fashioned but are creative and interesting to look at. It is also an informative guide to some of the unique creatures that inhabit Australia.

The pictures are actually quite lovely, as well as cute. The animals' true shapes and characters were not sacrificed to make them more human.

I'm so glad my library system bought a copy of this - we need to help children realize what an interconnected, small world, we share.

I can't decide which page I like best. The kangaroos dancing is impressive. The goannas wondering what to cook hits my empathy buttons. But the kookaburras writing riddle books is probably the most perfect.

I remember this from childhood. A simple counting book with alliteration, bright illustrations, and Australian creatures (the eponymous wombats, kangaroos, echidnas, goallas, etc.).
