Karen Ashley is one of those mid-eighties women-in-a-man’s world types. As a Pollution Control Board inspector she meets Luke Franko when she inspects his factory. While she is presented as professional and idealistic, she immediately throws professionalism to the wind to date the seafood factory owner. Well, he is pretty hunky, I would too.

Anyway, as Karen is settling into the new town and becoming involved with Luke and his family, a back story is going on in a nearby town where people are becoming gravely ill and the doctors cannot find the cause.

By the time the cause of what seems to be becoming and epidemic is determined to be seafood, and by the time the raw oysters are traced back to Luke’s factory, Karen and Luke have become very involved. And other things are going on, threatening phone calls, break-ins, and worse.

All this is set against the backdrop of a coastal community that is in recovery from a recent hurricane. It is a volatile time when everyone is very protective of jobs and income as they try to rebuild. Will Luke be able to find out what’s going on in his factory before Karen is forced to put him out of business?… (mehr)
