What is this novel about?

"Lead singer of the New Song Band, Carson Bell, had a lovely voice, a heart of gold, and was no slouch in the looks department. So why did his wife, Alice, abandon him and their daughter? And why after ten years was she now waltzing back into his life, wanting to pick up where they left off? Will Carson take her back, or will he choose to go solo for the rest of his life?"

What I liked about this book...

All I can say is that this was a good and very interesting Christian read about Alice and Carson. This author gives the reader a well written novel that will address many interesting issues especially those dealing with church people. It all goes to show one that it doesn't matter what position you may be in at church bad things can happen as it did for Alice. The storyline and characters were really off the chart in that it was all very well written and I found the characters well developed, well portrayed, colorful, real and believable that helped to give the reader a wonderful read from start to finish. How Alice made it though ten years after what had happened to her was truly something but it the end...well, this is where I will stop and say pick up "Going Solo" to see how well this author brings it all out to the reader.

What I especially loved about this read....

I love how we were able to see the 'Fruits of the Spirit" in this amazing novel....'Love, Forgiveness, Patience, and Longsuffering' and in the end we were truly given a sweet ending. All that is left is to get the next series...Duet on Fire.… (mehr)

Saving Face

Saving Face is the first in a series taking place on a college campus community. We met detectives Natasha and Harry of the local police department as well as many of the faculty and staff of the university. Saving Face is about the murder of the college president and the battle for who will take his place. Barrett brings in mystery, family drama, romance, and intrigue as she tells the story.
The plot of the book is good, the pace a bit slow with a tendancy to drag in places. It is a good mystery but we seem to come up with more suspects and less answers. After awhile this loses the reader's attention. Barrett writing is clar and easy to follow. Her characters are developed fairly well, about what one would expect for the introduction book of a series. Barrett does a splendid job in handling romance in her writing, avoiding the fairytale or the lusty types we often see. Instead we are given a few different types some healthy, some not. Tal and Natasha's relationship was believeable and romantic.
I enjoyed reading and hope to read more of Barrett's work.… (mehr)

Review:

"If It Ain't Broke" by Brenda Barrett was another one of this author's beautiful reads that I thoroughly enjoyed. This author was able to offer the reader four wonderful written stories that we all 'off the chart' EXCELLENT.' Wow! this series was of Chris and his new life...wife, daughter and even his ex-lover child Mark, which was his.

My suggestion if you haven't read this series...please do because it is a wonderful Christian read and a series that does have a good ending!

I liked the ending...prayer for the week:

"God, give me grace to accept with serenity the things that cannot be changed, Courage to change the things which should be changed and the Wisdom to distinguish the one from the other. Living one day at a time, Enjoying one moment at a time, Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace, Trusting that You will make all things right, If I surrender to Your will, So that I may be reasonably happen in this life, And supremely happy with your forever in the next. Amen."

Beautiful said and all that is left is pick up this read as well as the series... you will be truly blessed from the read. Well done Ms. Barrett for a wonderful series that was enjoyed from Book One through Book Four of the Three Rivers Series.… (mehr)

Review:

"Unholy Matrimony" by Brenda Barrett and a third in her series: 'Three Rivers.' It was a very good Christian romance of Phoebe, Charles, and Ezekiel. This author really works her magic with this storyline only giving the reader a excellent read that kept you turning the pages till the end. Who end up with Phoebe? You will only have to pick up this read to find out. With this novel being the third in this series, I have one more to read soon. If you are looking for a good read this series is definitely the one to read....so would I recommend? YES!… (mehr)
