Plain Living is the first book in the Lines from Lancaster County Saga. I received the kindle edition of this book from the author through the Librarything's Member Giveaway.
Since this is the first book that I have read by Rachel Bauer, and I believe it is actually her debut book, I honestly was not expecting to read something along the lines of Marta Perry or Beverly Lewis, but was pleasantly surprised to find that I really enjoyed this new author's writing style. This is in no way to say that I expected the book not to be good just because the author is new, I actually mean that I was impressed at how good the story was.
I have been reading Amish fiction for some time now, and I always look forward to the uncomplicated tales of budding romances between the characters. I found this book to be well-written and charming, and I read it in only a few hours. The characters were endearing, and I am very much looking forward to the second book in this series.
I am always looking out for new authors to enjoy, and I know that I have found another that I will be keeping my eye out for new books from. Rachel Bauer's debut series is one that is not to be overlooked if you enjoy Amish fiction along the lines of Amy Clipston, Marta Perry,or Mindy Starns Clark, just to name a few.

I was given this book in exchange of a honest review.

I began this book and couldn't put it down. The author does a great job depicting the Plain life and showing that though they conform to certain rites they do not lose their individualism. For me the book even makes me long for the simplicity and slower pace of living.

I am looking forward to the next installment.
