- Kalynn Bayron is the award-winning author of the YA fantasy novels CINDERELLA IS DEAD and THIS POISON HEART. Her latest works include the YA fantasy THIS WICKED FATE and the middle grade paranormal adventure THE VANQUISHERS. She is a CILIP Carnegie Medal Nominee, a two-time CYBILS Award nominee, and her work has been featured on Booklist’s Editor’s Choice list. She is a classically trained vocalist and musical theater enthusiast. When she's not writing you can find her watching scary movies and spending time with her kids. She currently lives in Ithaca, NY with her family.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review here and on my blog, Samwise Reviews. I thought this book was perfect and I loved every second of it. I found it to be really original and a bit spooky, and while a bit of it was predictable the characters really stood out and had their own personalities. It was intense enough that I couldn’t stop reading, but not so fast paced that I was exhausted by the end. I would love to see a sequel about how their changes are working out.… (mehr)
Holy moly rocky! This was quite enjoyable. I am VERY much looking forward to the continuation of the story.
Honestly, my only gripe was the gullibility of a girl that supposedly grew up in Brooklyn. No way she was that street-stupid. I felt like that was done to make the storytelling easier. NO cheating, lol.

Malika “Boog” Wilson and her best friends, Jules and Cedric, have grown up idolizing the Vanquishers, a group of heroic vampire hunters who wiped them out decades ago. Now, most people don't take even the most basic vampire precautions – no more garlic wreaths and early curfews - but Boog's parents and their neighbors are “old school”. The kids think the grown ups are over the top and the three friends just want to get through middle school without too many people realizing that their parents still worry about locking their house up at night and keeping the vamps away – how embarrassing!
