Über den Autor

Geoffrey Beattie is Professor of Psychology at Edge Hill University and in recent years a master's supervisor on the Sustainability Leadership Programme at the University of Cambridge and Visiting Professor at the University of California-Santa Barbara. He was Professor of Psychology at the mehr anzeigen University of Manchester from 1994 to 2012. He has a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Cambridge and has been awarded both the Spearman Medal by the British Psychological Society for 'published psychological research of outstanding merit', and the internationally acclaimed Mouton d'Or for his work in semiotics. weniger anzeigen

I only ever watched the first series of Big Brother and that was because my flatmate at the time never had the tv on any other channel. I was somewhat sceptical about reading this book and it took me a lot longer to get through because I essentially found it boring. I am interested in body language and there were a couple of interesting points made, however the majority of this book consisted of long descriptions of various gestures and responses to them. I found it quite repetative and feel it came to the conclusions most of us know by instinct, you get more information out of speech if you see as well as hear. I would not recommend this book to people unless they were obsessed with Big Brother or fancied a snooze.… (mehr)

I found this an excellent even-handed and compassionate book (reading from the other side of the fence and as someone who only lived in Ulster as a child). A personal view of Ulster people and idiosyncracies.
