There’s always something special when I read an Amish romance story which goes beyond the sweet, non-sexual scenes so prevalent in most of the romance novels I’ve read/reviewed. Perhaps it’s pure wholesomeness of commitment to family and that of the entire community which boils down to keeping the traditions of the Amish faith.

Abraham is still young enough not to have been baptized into the Amish faith because when his father suddenly dies around Christmas, he doubts his times ahead in his Amish community and gets attempted by the joyous, colorful lights in the neighboring English town; something which would never have happened if he had been baptized.

Anna, a close friend throughout his childhood, believes Abraham is the man she’s destined to marry desires to help him overcome his grief; however, her thoughts are overshadowed by her father working hard quite a distance away and might not even return for their family Christmas gathering.

With Anna worrying about Abraham being off on his journey of self-discovery in the nearby English town, and her father being away as well, loneliness is definitely something she definitely wants to experience, especially at this time of year. Will she have to endure a lonely Christmas, or will Abraham realize his place is back in his Amish community and with his childhood friend Anna?

This book by author, Sandra Becker, is essentially what Christmas is all about, a time for togetherness, a time for compassion for others, and most importantly the unique union of family love throughout the holiday season. The book is a story of the return of an individual to his faith fraught with the understanding Ecclesiastes 3 of why things happen when they happen. When all is said and done, I’ve given Ms. Becker 5 STARS for giving her readers, as well as myself a prefect reading experience not only for the holiday season, but anytime of the year.

I enjoyed it, but it seemed simple. I'd almost say it was a YA short story but some of the vocabulary seemed too involved for it to be YA (not just the Amish words, which are listed in the beginning, but other words within the story.)
