It was like reading an encyclopedia, so it is probably best used as a reference guide when you know your specific immunological issues. The last few chapters were discouraging...one was a discussion of the conspiracy against reproductive immunology as a discipline (Doctors with personal agendas! IVF clinics being afraid to lose money if they admit RI works! The president of Chicago medical school conspiring against Dr Beer!), and another about fertility and nutrition which used as its foundation the teachings of a known quack doctor who says fruit and legumes are the roots of all immunology evil. Do these chapters discredit the rest? It is hard to know. And frustrating for those of us who read this book looking for answers, as it is clear that the writers have their own agenda.… (mehr)
Don't be fooled by the cutesy title; this is NOT a touchy-feely self-help book.
I happened across this book by chance, and I opened it expecting to hear all the traditional platitudes of "just relax" and "visualize yourself pregnant". This could not be further from the truth. Inside this cover is a hard-science crash course in reproductive biology, specifically the parts that can go wrong during implantation or sustaining a pregnancy. It's a fascinating read. I just wish the authors had chosen a better title. "Is your body baby-friendly?" might be highly marketable, but it's a title that will cause people interested in this content to pass it by.… (mehr)
