Young men do crazy things sometimes. Among the craziest was the decision to try to swim the Grand Canyon. The Colorado River is currently too cold (due to damming of the river) for anyone to survive a swim through the Grand Canyon today, but in 1955 it was theoretically possible. Told in the first person, this book details the experience and leaves the reader with a sense of awe at the determination and perseverance of these two men. One is torn between admiring their courage and tenacity and wondering at their complete lack of any common sense or instinct for self-preservation.
