This book has such an interesting premise but ultimately fell a bit flat to me. Gaia has such a unique ability and I think if the book had a little less plot and also sharper writing, this could have been amazing. Eventually it turned out to be a book that was okay and which I had to power through a little to complete.

Took me a while to realize that Gemma's sister Gaia was the heroine of And They Lived Happily Ever After. I had enjoyed that book so much and enjoyed this one too. Two people learning to put themselves first, with ghost action mixed in. And a tease at the end for the next book. A great read.
A great story with a magic element - my favourite kind! Our MCs are well drawn, relatable yet sweet, struggling with some difficult situations they've been thrown into. The ancillary characters were great too. At the end of the book, we have our HAE, with an acknowledgement that the shifts, while positive, weren't smooth, and I appreciated that. I can't wait for the next book in this world!

Content Note: Closed door, although there is so much wonderful time spent with the two mc's and their back and forth that it makes up for it (I say that as someone who tends to steer away from closed door since I want a physical connection between the mc's in my romance. BUT that isn't so for everyone and that's ok!)… (mehr)
