Solar Power, by Tea Benduhn, is an amazing book for a 6th grade science because while it is informative, it is also very interesting. There are many pictures provided to grasp a student’s attention that are also relevant to the topic. The book has other subtopics passed on processes such as the green house effect which offers a core understanding of how solar power affects Earth. There is also information about how low the usage of solar power is compared to fossil fuels, despite the great benefits of using the sun’s energy, and gives reasoning as to why this is currently happening. Knowing this data, student can connect this to real world scenarios such as how people use solar panels for their houses. This book offers a variety of information behind solar power such as what solar power is, sources of solar energy, how solar power works, and solar power’s future.… (mehr)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing books that are more blatant and centered around that, but I think this is a bit more realistic. Coming out and/or realizing it isn't going to be the only thing going on in your life at that moment, and many books act like it is. I really liked that this book was different in that respect.… (mehr)
