Wildflowers of New York in Color von William K. Chapman
My mother was the nature lover in our family, and I inherited this book from her. But as a life-long New York City resident, I do appreciate this guide centered on my state. It's great how a field guide like this can make you better appreciate your surroundings, by helping you identify the fauna and flora around you. The guide arranges flowers by color, symmetry, petals, and leaf shape to aid in identification and features over 350 photographs. It's a beautiful book to browse through and easy to use.… (mehr)
This book , The Rainbow Beneath My Feet A Mushroom Dyer's Field Guide, has excellent color plates of dye mushrooms taken from the top and bottom, in addition to detailed taxonomic guide, which will help to identify the dye mushrooms. It also gives preserving, mordanting, etc. information applicable both generally and individually.
