A casual past von Francis Biddle
2551 A Casual Past, by Francis Biddle (read 11 Nov 1993) This is a pleasant memoir published in 1961. The author was FDR's Attorney-General for a time. But this book deals with Biddle's ancestors and his time before he became Attorney-General. He was born May 9, 1886, in Paris, of very blue-blooded Philadelphia stock. I found the genealogy fascinating, though it is only incidental. His account of his years at Groton and Harvard was most interesting. It obviously is not a significant book, but it was pleasant reading.… (mehr)
