Surprisingly readable, for such a specialized history. It contains a fairly detailed history of the Croat Peasant Party, from its inceptions to the demise of its first leader, though it's hard to exactly ascertain how balanced it is, considering how little literature there is in translation on the subject. A good primer for anyone interested in the roots of the more recent Balkan conflicts. One criticism, though, would be the fairly dense reference and use of Croat terms and language, which is sort of tough to get through for someone not initiated in one of the area's major tongues. (Luckily, my sketchy knowledge of Russian helped me get through this...barely.)

Recommended for the ardent Southern Slav historian...not recommended for the casual history reader.… (mehr)
