These lectures have little information for a course: no in-depth information, but more like a primer. I could find all this information in an internet search.

The book is more of a path to resilience for those with privilege and money, rather than helpful for everyone. She speaks as if everyone gets those so-called benefits from victim behavior. Those of us without privilege are instead punished and shunned by society for our experiences as victims, as if we were to blame for the actions of the perpetrators.

The last half of the book is spent describing basic yoga. I would have preferred more depth in the first half of the book to these verbal descriptions of yoga poses. The last half of the book is a waste of time. And the first half of the book lacks depth.

This book might be a good overview for someone not familiar with any of these topics, but even so, I can think of better books for the beginner.

There were some very good parts to this book, but there wasn't enough depth in those few parts for me to feel as if I learned anything. It felt more like an advertisement for reading more information elsewhere.

All that said, she is likely an excellent yoga teacher. But all her writings here are basically regurgitations of what others have written about in much more detail.… (mehr)
