- An exuberant, enthusiastic woman, Doubleday was no great authority on birds, but her work was part of the foundations of the conservation movement made during the early years of the 20th century. She died in Canton while on an assignment for the Red Cross.

Descriptions of wild flowers (region not specified) for identification. Flowers are arranged by Family groupings according to classification scheme proposed in Gray's New Manual of Botany. Plants are identified by species names as well as common names. Labeled drawings of plant forms and structures plus several color illustrations included. Highly detailed descriptions of plants enlivened by author commentary beyond taxonomic observations.
A delicious little (early) field guide to birds that include mini essays on each species. Lovely full color illustrations of paintings. First published 1917, then 1926. Lovely book, perfect for the nightstand.
