I purchased this from a friend at the Torah Sisters retreat in Michigan in May 2023.
Lawrence Boadt’s Reading the Old Testament was recognized as a classic almost from its date of publication in 1984. This book includes chapters the Old Testament in general, the people and lands, archaeology, literary tools, the Pentateuch, the time before and after the Patriarchs, the Exodus, Canaanite religion and culture, the time of the kingdoms, daily life, Israelite worship , the Prophets, and the return to Israel. Although this book now has a new edition, updating the archaeology, and contains newer resources, This is still an excellent resource for Old Testament background.
