I found out I was green and gold, and the basic outlines of these personality characteristics do fit with me. However, personality tests are readily accessible in varying forms both on the internet, in schools, and other books.
What sets this book apart, in my opinion, are the supplemental chapters after each personality type is explained. These chapters go on to provide additional insight into compatibility with others and include information on raising children with an eye to their personality.
An additional feature of this book that I appreciated was the overall tone of the book. Some books that encourage people to delve into ourselves either come off overly inspirational or high on hype, while others are bogged down in exceedingly detailed explanations and almost clinical terminology. Either of these scenarios make for very dry reading.
Colorful personalities is not a dry book to read. I enjoyed going through it back and forth over the course of an afternoon and even rereading a few of the portions I felt particular relevant to my life.
It was also interesting to see how predominately green and gold I was, and then seeing my husband tie three personality "colors." We ended up having several good discussions after noticing this.
If you pick up a copy of Colorful Personalities, I highly recommend sharing it with a friend also and then discussing your results and the topics at large with each other. Sometimes others can provide insights into us that we do not readily see.… (mehr)
