In rural England, Kelly Coltrane's world is a million miles from the one she reads about in her Hollywood magazines. But when screen legend Ruby Valentine shocks the world with her mysterious suicide, Kelly's father reveals something even more shocking-Kelly is Ruby Valentine's daughter.

Kelly sets off for Tinseltown to find some answers, diving head first into Hollywood society with her new family of jet-setters and fashionistas-and attracting the attention of a heartbreakingly handsome hunk.

But the more Kelly digs into Ruby's real life, the closer she gets to uncovering the most unbelievable truth of all...

My Thoughts:

I bought this book for my mom who then passed it back to me to read. When I read the back I thought that it seemed ok and sounded similar to a Jackie Collins. The story line itself was like a JC, with all the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, but I struggled with it !

The reason being is that the book is chick lit which I really stuggle with. I don’t lie chick lit although some may say that Jackie Collins is, but she seems to be a class on her own. To say what the story line was, (girl finds out her mother was an hollywood actress who commits suicide, goes to seek out family), the book was bland. There was no emotion coming from the characters. The characters were all cardboard and the other family seemed to acccept Kelly the main character quite easily, and everybody goes home to tea. Even the twist at the end didn’t save the book.

However if you are a fan of chick lit then this book will be a great read, but for me who struggles and like something a bit more punchy then I think I can leave well alone.

Not bad. If you are able to suspend belief for a while, this is quite an enjoyable book.

Kelly finds out that her mother is the famous movie star, Ruby Valentine, who has just died. She travels to America to meet with her mother's family and find her own long lost relatives, but finds that all that glitters is not gold.

Readable and enjoyable, but not memorable.
