Rezensionen

A great collection of stories from a wide range of voices. This book demonstrates how comics can be used so effectively both to tell personal stories and to communicate ideas.

Maybe this wasn’t the best time to read a book of political cartoons. The cover art is based off a cartoon that has taken off as a meme. The collection is well put together with thoughts about the art underneath some bout not all the panels. But reading it in more small doses was just a steady stream of too much negativity. This is better to be read in small chunks.

Be Gay, Do Comics is a graphic novel filled with dozens of LGBTQ stories and experiences. Written about personal stories, queer history, pronoun preferences, gender journeys, and more.

I really enjoyed this collection of comics from different artists about different aspects of the LGBTQ community. It was a nice change to see a variety of characters that weren't just white gay men. Having stories from all over the world and history were interesting to read about as well, especially since I haven't heard of most of them before this read. I will be doing some more research that's for sure!

This graphic novel is important. Not only to share the history of the LGBTQ community that always seems to be on threat of being fully erased, but to also give light to those who may be going through their own life journey where they aren't sure exactly who they are and they're scared. This book gives them chances to see they're not alone.
