I found a paper copy of this on the free shelf at my library and gave it a shot. It's pretty cute. Faith is not a traditional body type, and I like that since I'm just a smaller version of her body type. Other than that I must say I'm not really thrilled or drawn into the story so far, but it is cute.

This was great!

The art style is clean, well-polished, the colours are really well-harmonised. I particularly like art in Faith's daydreaming sequences -- the colours are dreamy and the actual style is different but still totally consistent.

I love the modern writing style, all the nods to fandoms, sci-fi shows and contemporary internet / tumblr-speak. One day it might show its age, but right now? It's pretty on-point.

Faith is a great heroine. I love the way they draw her, I love the way her inner dialogue is written. And I adore that she's a plus-sized heroine, doing her thing, going through her day, just like everyone else.

The authors and creators treat her with respect, and I thank them for all the effort that went into this comic.

(Thanks to Netgalley for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review. I'm glad I did!)

Marvel: Now What? #1 - Sara Schaefer, Scott Adsit, Wyatt Cenac, Brian Posehn, Skottie Young
Marvel has a storied history of poking their tongue out at themselves. Deadpool, and how meta he gets, some What If? parodies that are pretty much this exact thing and parody their work. They get really self-referential when you can't find a page on their website.

So, yeah, they have a history of doing this. And it's nice, for a couple reasons: it acknowledges plotholes, or issues, but also makes you laugh when you think about them. It lessens the blow. And it makes me feel as if they don't take themselves so seriously. Obviously they don't, but it's nice to see it in action. It's nice to see someone who isn't afraid to parody themselves.

Marvel has a sense of humor, and it's on full display here. From Doctor Doom trying to get brunch - and failing - to Captain American internet dating - and also failing at that - these are cute, short stories that gently mock the Marvel Now! experience.

I only wish Marvel did these more often, as they always make me laugh.

A collection of short stories of famous criminal cases from Alaska. Some very interesting cases such as the dentist who kept accidentaly killing his patients and the dissaperaance of a famous politician who wanted Alaska to secede from the U.S.. There was a theme though of a couple of cases that suggests that as the oil pipeline was built in the late 70's into the 80's, that crime went up with it. The mob was attracted to the area and you can see the results as you read through the cases.
