Mostly staged publicity shots, but a handful of candid images that include fans.

This work provides little, if any, insight to the groups that comprised the ‘British Invasion’. The author apparently draws his information about selected groups from interviews conducted during his time as a journalist in the 1970’s. These interviews concern one, or at most two group members and ignore the even the names and contributions of others. Contrary to the statement on the cover, ‘The Inside Story…’, there is little meat here. In truth, several acts are not even mentioned.
To me, the era stated in the title occurred post-Beatles until about 1970. The material included begins in the early 1970’s up through the turn of the century. By then the new and powerful sounds of British groups was becoming a bit worn and faded. And instead of an exposition of what the music scene was like during this vibrant time, the author proffers a post-game analysis. I am not knocking the artists or music from this latter era but British Invasion it is not.
If indeed one is interested in whom the author interviewed, which hotels he stayed at, and which PR men he associated with, then this book is for you. The saving grace, which saved me review from giving an even worse rating was the very last paragraph where the author’s acknowledges the greatness of the era’s music and its appreciation by multiple generations.

Your typical coffee table book. The pictures are very nice. While the text is decent it is not fantastic. If you enjoyed the TV series or music of this band it's a nice addition to your library.
