I want to give this a 3.75. I like the premise and I like the characters, mostly. Rex sometimes is kind of a jerk.

This one was (for me) over the top Alpha-Alpha - Entitled -Rich Asshole. One of my buttons.
Then the Alpha was emotionally abusive - another button. Finally, there were huge gaps in the logic or reasoning within the story. This is a major button for me.
I am going to ignore the first two buttons as those are my issues, but a story line that does not make sense or that has gaps is not one I am willing to ignore.
In addition, there is little to no world-building and the character development is . . . . haphazard. Conflicts and annoying characters are introduced and disappear or are ignored. For me this takes the whole thing down to a 3.5/5 - rounded toa 4 in case my dislike of the Alpha MC is overly influencing me. Will I read this author again? Well - I won't go looking for him.… (mehr)
