Hugh Burnett (1924–2011)

In 1940, a year after the German invasion of Poland, a square mile of Warsaw was walled off as a ghetto for the Jews. Nazi cameramen were employed to make a detailed record of the life and death of the 600,000 Jews within the walls.
Tonight's programme has been compiled from film shot by these cameramen and photographers of the German Army, the S.S., and the Gestapo. For the first time on television the full story is told-exactly twenty-five years after the ghetto was sealed off.
