Sorted into the various boroughs of New York City, this includes several bars from each which have a history of attracting writers to the bar. Some of the bars featured are no longer in operation, but many are still there. Delia Cabe gives a brief rundown of their history, patrons, what type of food and drinks they serve, hours and locations.

Written with heart by one who obviously loves her city and its history, this book compels me to return for a visit to at least several of these memorable bars. The photos are enticing and the recipes for classic bar drinks, most either a favorite of a famous author, or a specialty of the bar featured, are intriguing. This has been a fun read full of trivia about NYC, the bars and the many authors who drank there.… (mehr)
