Logics of American Foreign Policy: Theories of… von Patrick Callahan
This book provides fair reasoning for several different approaches to American foreign policy without any obvious bias for or against any particular position. It presents the challenges America faces in being a world power and how we came to be in the position of hegemon, whether we meant to be or not.
I got this because it is the text for a class I am teaching on behalf of another teacher. He is somewhat an old New Leftist and I am not, so I had my doubts about it, but as far as I can tell so far it does try *(as the author says ) to explain the assumptions of major schools of thought about foreign policy impartially. The only significant factual error I have found so far is the statement that the Marshall Plan included aid for Asia.
