The Tweed Ring von Alexander B. Callow Jr.
Fluid account of the history of one of the most notorious political organizations in American history, the Tweed Ring of the 1860s and 1870s that ran New York City. Generally pretty good, though the insistence by the author on calling the Boss William "Marcy" Tweed, instead of the proper William Magear Tweed, is something of an embarrassment. There's nothing particularly new or startling in the book, though the sources are pretty decent. Generally recommended.
