The patterns in this book are useful, ordinary patterns that kids will wear. Nothing too exotic that might be rejected by fussy preteens. But what sets this book apart, what makes it uniquely good, is that it includes patterns designed for children to knit themselves. There's a sweater designed to the specifications of a nine year old: "It has to be simple because I like to watch TV while I knit. And I can only knit for about 5 hours a week." Done, and it's a cute sweater. Another, for a mom that wanted to collaborate with her beginning-knitter twins, avoids the two-knitter gauge problem by designing a hoodie where mom can knit the sweater and the kid can knit a square for the hood. Maybe even the front patch pocket if they're fast and ambitious. This would be so much fun for a parent or grandparent who likes to knit along with a young knitter.… (mehr)
