What a cute story! It is totally non-standard, and offering an insight into the "real" problems a werewolf and a vampire might have when they are attracted to each other. Each of the main characters already has some very species-specific needs and issues, but combine the two and you have a bit of a cross-cultural disaster at first. Written with the kind of humor that presents the most outrageous comments with such aplomb that it made me laugh, this story is definitely an entertaining read. And the characters clearly have enough depth for me to wish there were a novel-length sequel.

Alan is the werewolf. And he is extremely unique. As he explains, it isn’t a family thing and he wasn't bitten. So how did he become one, I kept asking. Believe me, when you find out, you will be as amused as I was. It's a great explanation for a guy with Alan's job, and that is all I will say so as not to ruin the surprise. Alan is going through his "monthly thing" when he runs into Eric and though he is immediately attracted, he holds back. He has no idea what the inter-species protocol might be and he doesn’t want to ruin his chances. Too cute!

Eric, the vampire, has a few issues of his own. Having no "circulatory system", as he puts it, causes a few issues in the are of physical arousal (there is none), and there is now only one way he can get off. He is scared to mention it, but when he does, Alan's reaction isn't what Eric feared. He also has a few other personal challenges, and I loved reading about his hesitant thoughts as he worked his way through figuring out how a relationship might work. Alan has it right: Eric is adorable. Not your typical vampire at all, but I liked that.

If you like unusual stories about paranormal beings, including all their frustrations, if you enjoy reading about inter-species problems and how to get over them, and if you're looking for something to make you laugh and cheer you up, give this one a try. You may like it as much as I did.

What becomes of a Greek god when people stop believing in him? It's an interesting question, and one that this book answers in one of many possible ways. With a mixture of humor in the way it is told, and a serious message about love and acceptance, this story is as entertaining as it is wonderful. Not a traditional love story, maybe, and yet, it definitely spoke to my inner romantic.

The god Poseidon, also known as Max Stanfield, has a lot to learn in the final hours of his existence as a god. His job as a swim instructor made me laugh, and the fact that he hadn't gotten laid in forty-seven years had me incredulous. It may explain why he suddenly felt attracted to his coworker, Greg, but I cannot help but think there is more to it. Poseidon sees him as sexy way before looking at his physical attributes. There is clearly something about Greg's personality that attracts the god to him. And with Poseidon's sudden realization of the gods' existences coming to an end, and his understanding that the way he has treated mortals previously wasn't very nice, it makes sense for him to see beyond the physical.

Greg is a writing teacher who works at the same YMCA as Max. He has a secret crush on him, and now that it's been six months since his partner of ten years has left him, Greg feels ready to talk to Max. What happens next totally floors him, but even though their physical interaction was a little rough, he wants more! Once they make it to Max's home, Greg gets a lot more than he expects – but being who he is, he accepts it all in good grace and helps Max move forward.

If you like stories about gods in the mortal world, if you enjoy a read that is entertaining, yet carries a more serious message about life and its purpose, and if you're looking for a read that is as hot as it is funny, then you will probably like this short book.
