Universe or Multiverse? von Bernard Carr
The questions of the validity of "anthropic" reasoning and the existence of multiple universes deeply examined by the best-qualified people -- such physics/cosmology luminaries as Weinberg, Wilczek, Rees, Hawking, Tegmark, Linde, Vilenkin, Susskind, Smolin, Bostrum, Barrow, and Davies. A real (though demanding) treat, despite the funding role of the Templeton Foundation (which has the impossible and undesirable goal of reconciling science and religion) and the consequent inclusion of a couple of theology-oriented chapters. Max Tegmark (http://space.mit.edu/home/tegmark/main.html) wrote the chapter ("The Multiverse Hierarchy") I found the most intriguing.… (mehr)
