This board book, full of illustrations and photographs of adorable puppies with cute captions, is sure to be popular with babies and toddlers. The simple text introduces young readers to common words: cute, hungry, sleepy, hello. Meanwhile, the pictures show puppies eating, walking, playing and sleeping. A colorful border and sturdy pages make this book tot-friendly. At the same time, the captions are inconsistent from page to page, which may be confusing for youngsters trying to understand book conventions. While there are similar board books on the market that may be better designed, books with real animal photos are always a favorite.
