This was an incredible page-turner up-all-night couldn’t-put-down type of book…!!! I was drawn in and held captive until the very end.

The rules in this world of vampires is pretty straight forward. Vampirism is a virus. All the rules we think we know still apply to these vampires except they aren’t dead, undead, half dead, or any type of dead. They still radiate heat. They are still capable of reproducing like any normal being.

“Soul Mates” also exist in this world. I love this concept! All political rules fly out the door as soon as “soul mates” are mentioned. What does this mean?? Love trumps all!!

This story is full of mystery, drama, romance, and utter craziness!! There may have been a damsel in distress, but to be fair, it’s near impossible for a human to overpower a vampire. I am curious about Antonio’s unscheduled visit towards the end of the book. I wonder what’s in store for him??

I absolutely loved this book!! The characters were intriguing, and the author’s writing style made the unique story-line flow naturally. I look forward to reading more adventures by Aleera.

This second book of The Blood Novels series was just as great as the first. The high energy level made this read difficult to put down. Action and suspense were found around every corner. The fierceness of these characters was intense.

The story opens with Esmeralda looking pale and sickly. Her nightmares have finally been laid to rest but now Antonio is being plagued by his own. Through their Soul Mate connection, feelings of stress, fatigue, and worry can bleed into the other’s psyche just as easily as those of comfort and love. Antonio has seen glimpses of Ezzy’s mind. He knows what’s in her heart. He is certain he is the source of her illness.

Now that life has settled, Esmeralda is ready to face new challenges. At the top of her to-do list is getting Antonio to open up to her. Stubborn male that he is, Ezzy has her work cut out for her.

The focus of this story, however, is on Isis. Her past has finally caught up with her. She knew the day would come but knowing it does nothing to ease the terror in her heart. With threats to her friends, she has no choice but to allow herself to become a pawn.

I loved learning more about Isis. Her back story is intriguing. Her intelligence and inner strength have kept her alive over the centuries.

This story ends with a wicked twist. There are a few hints within the story itself, but I was afraid to hope. Now I’m sorry I was right.… (mehr)
