This is a biography and selected correspondence of one of the crucial players at the Battle of Jutland, the largest naval action of WWI. The effort is too reverent for my taste, and the author clearly announces that family sensibilities took precedence over a representation of all the letters, but we have his word that this is the service life. Beatty's opinion of Jellicoe, and of the conduct of the battle are shown to have altered slightly with time. the post-Jutland information is useful as many analysts don't mention Beatty's time in Command of the Grand Fleet.Good Jutland diagrams.… (mehr)
