When the heroine hears a baby crying at night while cleaning the museum, she can't help but searching for it, not after the loss of her own baby. There she finds a dollhouse and is transported back in time to a southern plantation. She knows instantly she's back in time because the hero identifies himself as an historical figure that dies in the big flood. No questions asked, she just knows that that's the only explanation. The hero is the only saving grace of this whole story but it wasn't nearly enough to make this book likeable. He's a hard, no nonsense master of his world but when he looks at his baby daughter, the love he feels can't be denied. But he needs someone to care for her as is wasn't considered proper for a gentleman in those times to care for his children. That's where the heroine comes in. She appears one night out of the blue and though she makes up this story about the real governess breaking her leg and asking her to come instead, he doesn't believe her. He has her watched constantly and her behavior and unladylike speech, make him want her no where near his daughter. But she is good with kids. That's another thing I hated about his heroine. She gets sent back in time, knowing that the hero and that baby girl were going to drown is less than a month and all she worries about is that the clothes are uncomfortable, or the shoes are too small. She only once tried to saw something about the future and that's when the hero wants to kick her out because she's a mess and bizarre. Then she proclaims that she can see the future and that the flood is coming. Really? She spends everyday with that innocent baby and all this talk of walls and floods doesn't make her speak up in an attempt to save her? She was selfish, stupid and really annoying. I have no idea what the hero saw in her other than a body to put his dick in. The whole story was incredibly bland, the romance was a big fact zero the heroine was a asshole. Based on this book, I will be hesitant to buy any further books from this author.… (mehr)

This is one of my favorite books to take to the beach with me or just re-read. It's just a cute, funny little romance that appeals to the cookie baker in me. I've read this book about 10 times and it never gets old.
