Poignant description of JC life. Love the setting and the details which made this book so uniquely Singaporean.

Sweet child of mine is a continuation of the story from Poets, Priests and Prostitutes. Hidden among the rest of the short stories, told from the voice of a new character, there's a sense of familiarity and nostalgia, as if one has bumped into an old friend.

I enjoyed most of the other pieces as well. I love the way he develops his protagonists, the meditative feel to his stories.

Timothy plans to murder his wife.

And the rest of the book is devoted to exploring Timothy's psyche. His beliefs, his personality, his childhood, his relation to society, to shed insights on why he so badly wants to kill his wife.

It's a refreshing read.
