I love this author!

The writing and character development. I would love to see some well written lesbian shifter romances thrown in here. I also loved seeing more development from Kai and Sam even though this isn't "their book". Just all around a good read.

This was surprisingly sweet. I really liked both Tank and C.J. The plot was straightforward but it was a satisfyingly pleasant read. The perfect pick me up with some feel good romance with a bit of heat and humour.

The back and forth with the alternating chapters of letters from before and what was happening now really worked for me. It built the story up with a good steady pace and portrayed a happy relationship and the glow of new loves. I liked that Tank was remorseful and willing to make major changes to be a better person and to not just take care of C.J. but to help him achieve his dreams too. I felt sorry for C.J. Between his parents and his friends I don't know how he remained as upbeat as he was. The other characters were interesting and supportive and it was just a real feel good read. The humour was really good too and had me chuckling. My favourite bit

“Oh, um, hi. I’m CJ. You’re Houston, right?” The guy nodded, extending a closed fist for a bump.
“Yup. You’re Tank’s boy, yeah?” He gestured with his chin to something behind CJ. He glanced over his shoulder, smiling like a dope when Tank winked at him on his way to the back—probably so he’d have some privacy while he put in his new jewelry.
“Yeah,” he said, sighing dreamily as he watched Tank’s big frame disappear into the room marked Private, “I’m Tank’s boy.”
“Knuckles,” the guy holding the machine said. CJ turned and held out his closed fist again. Viper, Houston, and the tattooer all started laughing. Confused, he looked around at them, trying to figure out what was so funny.
Once he calmed enough, the guy said, “Nah, man, that’s my name.” He nodded toward where a leather vest hung on the back of his chair, then held up one of his gloved hands. “I got my knuckles tatted right before I started prospecting, so when I patched in, these geniuses decided that would be a clever name for me.”
Oh.

Clark, Kiki. Reckless (Leather & Chrome Book 1) (p. 176). Kindle Edition.

I would say it was a slight bit too sweet for me in some ways to rate it higher than 3 stars. It was good but without a bit of angst or drama there's just not enough depth for it to reach a higher rating. But on the other hand sometimes you just need a fluffy sugary feel good read and this absolutely delivered on that. 3 stars.

A steamy, low-angst, swoonworthy romance read. John and Lukas were both likeable characters and the relationship between them was sweet. They had good chemistry, made each other happy and together made a great team. There wasn't any drama besides a brief moment when the dad finds out. I'll definitely be checking out the author's other works. 3 stars.
